side by side

Side by Side Dance Collective, a dance company originally founded in 2012 by Larkin Poynton, is a collective with chapters both in Boulder, Colorado and Los Angeles, California, directed by Maggie Shomaker. Dedicated to the simple yet complex goal of creating, all members have equal opportunity to create and share their work as artists, and hope to inspire and tell a story while continuously pushing boundaries. Members of Side by Side train in a wide variety of styles, and are inspired by elements of Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Urban Movement. They are involved in the community teaching class, taking class, and performing in events such as Murmuration, Verve Collisionz, Urban Paradise, and more. To follow their journey and exploration, you can watch The Chronicles, a bi-weekly dance video series choreographed, produced, directed, and edited by members of the collective in the pursuit of creating. Follow them on Instagram or find them on Facebook to see their latest work.
